About Us

Our Story

Courageous Kids Climbing was founded in 2014 with a single purpose: to give people of all ages with special needs the chance to climb. After years of growth, the organization became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2019. What began with one event has grown into roughly 30 events a year across Idaho, Washington, California, Arizona and Nevada, always free for participants.

We believe everyone adapts in climbing through equipment, so the question is never whether someone can climb, only how we make it happen. That belief shapes every event we hold.

An All-Volunteer Team

Our work is powered entirely by volunteers, with a core of about six dedicated people who plan, rig and run each event. Their commitment is why every climb stays free for the families we serve.

First Responders & Partnerships

We partner with first responders who support our events while enhancing their own skills for working with people with special needs, and lessening fears toward people in uniforms. Trained Rope Rescue Technicians set up the specialized rope systems that keep everyone safe.
